Move Over Cupcakes ...

Want in on a little secret?
Say goodbye to cupcakes at your wedding reception,
and HELLO to Doughnuts!

It's true, brides are going crazy for these tasty treats.  Try them for cocktail hour or a midnight snack served with coffee. Why not make your cake into layered Doughnuts on cake stands, or better yet, why not as passed hor dourves?  Whatever you decide, you're sure to please your guests ... and surprise them too!

What to take it to another level?  Bring in a pastry chef and make them on the spot to order!

So, are you replacing the cupcake with the doughnut?  Share your photos with us on Twitter - @bridalsolution ... can't wait to see this delicious trend hit Mid-Missouri!

The Bridal Solution's Top 5 Tips for Hosting a Super Bowl Party

Hosting a Superbowl Party this year? Create a one-of-a-kind event that will WIN over your guests!

The Bridal Solution's Top 5 Super Bowl Party Tips:

1.  Set the Scene
That's right, get cheesy with it!  The Super Bowl is supposed to be fun and festive, so don't forget about the little details.  Create the atmosphere at home, with a few simple ideas.  Cut astro turf for coasters or create turf coozies for drinks.  Set your table up like a football field by adding yard lines.  My favorite is our famous "buckets of beer" option.  Get a galvanized bucket and fill with beer and Ice, just like you would get at the game itself.  Wrap your coffee table in contact paper, leave chalk and allow your guests to drawl up what they think the winning play will be!  Pass out yellow flags when your guests arrive to get them involved in the calls, and most of all have fun!

2.  Don't Forget the Kids
Get the kids involved.  Have special drinks and food set aside for them and a small tattoo station with team logos, so they can show their support too!  They may not be too interested in the game, but drawl their attention to the arts and crafts!  Last year we put on the Little Giants movie, and we could hear them cheering from the next room.

3. It's all About the Food
Some people go to Super Bowl parties just for the food alone.  Have plenty of options for your guests.  Everything from wings in different flavors, to hot and cold dips, finger foods and mini comfort food options.  Mini sliders, mini dogs and mini fries always seem to be a hit.  And for the kids - build your own nachos!
It's all about presentation!

Have a dessert bar with easy to eat sweets. Mini cupcakes, cake pops made to look like footballs with your team logo, and fruit with cream.

4.  Commercials and Games
More interested in the Super Bowl Commercials?  Create a game around them.  Which ones do everyone think will create the most buzz?  Keep tally, re-enact or just sit back and relax.  On things for sure, there will be some guests who are more excited about the game, and those who are more excited about the commercials.

5.  Good Friends + Good Food =
If you have good friends, and you have plenty of food and drink, you're going to have one heck of a good game!  Grab your loved ones, grab a seat, and get ready for the game which over 90 million people celebrate EVERY year!  Good Friends + Good Food [and drinks] = Great Game!

Enjoy!

The Bridal Solution's Menu Planning 101

Whether you're planning your wedding or planning for the holiday's one things for sure , there is an art to menu planning, and we have just the tools you need to plan and execute your next event!
Nothing says I love you like food, so when you're hosting a party, one of the first things you should think about is the food.  I have been to a lot of weddings where this seems to be forgotten.  If you think people will not remember what you served at your wedding or holiday party, you're wrong!  It's actually one of the first things they talk about when discussing your nuptials.
I have taken the time to put together some advice when talking food.
Here is The Bridal Solution's Wedding Menu Planning 101:

5.  It's important that the food you serve during your wedding is something that both of you enjoy.  Make it special and think about your favorite restaurants, or maybe s sample menu from your first date.  You'll want to select a certain type of food and stick with that particular cuisine.  When thinking about your favorite restaurant, what is it that you really love about it?  Is it the atmosphere or the way the food is prepared or served?  All of these factors can be incorporated in your wedding.
4.  Take the location and venue into consideration.  For example, if you are having your wedding on a celebration cruise or a yacht, you may want to serve fresh sea food.  Or if you are having a back yard DIY wedding, you may want to look into BBQ options.  Whatever you decide, make sure it makes sense to the location.  You'll need to make sure that the venue has appropriate equipment to keep cold food cold and hot food hot!
3. After you decide what type of food you will want to server, you'll need to figure out how you want the food prepared and served.  Is your event or wedding more casual and a buffet is ideal for your gusts to pick and choose?  Or are you having more of a formal sit down dinner where your guests will be served?  Many brides are choosing a more modern take on food service and having either food stations or passed heavy hor dourves.
2.  Make sure you know you're guests.  Are there a lot of vegetarians in your group, or vegans?  Do you have friends or family who have allergies to certain types of food?  This is helpful information when planning a menu for a large group.  Always have options available.
1.  Finally, nothing goes better with food then a beverage to wash it down with!  Think about what wines pair well with the food you are serving, and consider having those available.  You may also want to do something along the lines of the type of food you are serving.  If you are having fajita stations, have a margarita bar available.  If it's summertime, supply sangria.  If you are beer drinkers, have something brewed from the area to intrigue your guests.  Whatever it is, make it true to the both of you, and something your guests will remember!

Real Wedding: Mowgli & Craig

We are loving the simplistic details of this farm-to-table wedding.  Bringing in elements of the outdoors, this couple thought of it all. Our favorite part? That's easy.  The couple brought in long farmhouse tables as their guest tables ... it really helped to create the space, and gave them a starting place when designing!
